Mona Shield PayneWe are very excited that the team at Counts Kustoms as seen on HISTORY’s hit show COUNTING CARS joined Touro to do a very special project. Ryan and Horny Mike painted one-of-a-kind “chair”ity art that are now part of a where all proceeds will go to help families access treatment at our Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

Our Touro Gala is around the corner and we are just a few seats away from being full so if you haven’t made a reservation, Our keynote speaker is the United States Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy. We are honoring three extraordinary physicians including our own Dr. Forman and NV Energy for their generous support. The Gala is March 6 at the Four Seasons and tickets are $236 each.

We also have a silent auction during the Gala that is already open for bidding. You don’t have to wait until March 6 and if you didn’t get a ticket in time, you can still support our student scholarships by bidding on your favorite silent auction items.

The TUN vs TUC Big Game is March 8 on the California campus. This campus rivalry game started in 2010 and currently TUN holds the “hammer” trophy.

On March 10, I would encourage our TUN family to donate to The Big Give, a day of online giving. Your minimum gift of $10 will go to student scholarships. I know our students that have received scholarship support are very grateful as it relieves some financial pressure and allows them to focus on their studies. We will also have big jars around campus so if you have some spare change, drop it in.

Monday, March 14 is our 10th Annual Research Day. I am proud of the important research our faculty and students are engaged in and Research Day allows us to show the breadth and depth of research focus on campus.

We will be celebrating Dr. Mitchell Forman, our founding dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, on Wednesday, March 16 with a little party in the atrium to recognize his many accomplishments and wish him well on his retirement from the Dean’s position. Luckily, Mitch doesn’t know what retirement really means so he will continue seeing patients three days a week in the Health Center.

As always, I want to welcome you to learn more about Touro University Nevada by calling my office of advancement at 702-777-3100. Come take a tour and see the “best kept secret in Southern Nevada.”
